[STUMP] Mode-line not updating at right times

I just noticed that my mode-line, which I have set to display the date
via a small app, is not
keeping the time right. I have the timeout set to 10, but it will
often go for more than a
minute without updating at all, and often I have to switch windows or
such to kickstart one.
I compiled from the source obtained via git (male's tree) from
yesterday, with sbcl 1.0.12
on debian testing.  I seem to recall having run into this in the past,
and just can't recall how
I handled it then.  Maybe I switched to clisp, but am currently having
some trouble getting
stumpwm to compile against that lisp, and so am using sbcl.

Have others run into this before?  And how might I be able to deal
with it and get things
moving more smoothly?
