FWIW, you should be able to find the canonical information about
every/any GNU package at the url http://www.gnu.org/software/PKGNAME.
In some cases it redirects to another page, but it should always work.
If you find cases where it doesn't, please tell me.  (I'm sure there are
some -- I haven't systematically tested, for reasons that are too boring
to go into.)
