Hello all,

Apologies if this is of no interest to you; it is being sent to those
that have an interest in describing, modeling, and simulating dynamic,
emergent, complex adaptive systems.

This message is meant to inform interested parties of a workshop that
is taking place at OOPSLA98 this year on Monday, October 19th. The
workshop is titled "Modeling Dynamic/Emergent Distributed Object
Systems".

This workshop is meant to bring together three (not necessarily
disjoint) communities:

o modelers, designers, and developers in a variety of domains
(primarily object-oriented, component, and distributed systems),

o CAS scientists, modelers, researchers, developers, and users, and

o those few individuals that are attempting to bridge these two
spaces.

The current participants include Doug Lea, Nelson Minar, Jim Odell, Ed
Swanstrom, Jeff Sutherland, Ron Resnick, Dirk Riehle, Alan Wills, and
others.

We thought that some of you might be interested in participating in
this event.

For more information, see the workshop home page at

       <http://www.cs.caltech.edu/~kiniry/projects/Modeling98/>

Submissions will be accepted from OOPSLA attendees and well-known
parties for the next several weeks. Current workshop submissions will
be made available by the end of this month.

This message has been BCCed to those that might not want their email
address to be widely spread. Please forward to those that you might
think have interest in this cross-field work.

Thank you.

All the best,
Joe Kiniry (on behalf of the Modeling98 workshop committee)
