Thank you Darren for your reply, I will give it a go.

I would recommend a binary installation if there is one for your system (so that you can avoid having to futz with compiling the source code.) You can find the binaries and the source code at http://savannah.nongnu.org/projects/swarm/.From there, I would run the demo programs and then look through their code to see how they were built. Then, you will probably want to go through some of the tutorials.Darren On Friday, May 23, 2003, at 07:39 AM, chris rohe wrote:Hello list,I have been watching the listserv for some time now and would like to know how to start out with the software from the basics. I have done predictive modeling with GIS and am really interested in trying agent based modeling, but I am still clueless on what all I need to down load. If anyone would be interested in pointing me in the right direction I would be very appreciative. The structure of the model:-two groups of agents, one is a buyer and the other a trader -each group has its own rules and functions. -buyer agents will have two types, trustable agent and untrustable -trader agents will have the same two types -buyer agents and traders will meet and communicate with each other to do transactions and then update their own trust ratings (using maps most probably....i think). Each agent will keep records of all the meetings between them. -first buyer agents will look for known traders (past transactions records) and if there are none it explores other available traders in the multiagent world. Are there any examples that can help me in designing my model (java ones) especially involving interaction/communication between agents.I was looking into the CharlesJavaTutorial examples on bugs looking for food. It is more straight forward and there is no interaction between agents.Thanks.Regards, Kana ____________________________________________________________ Get advanced SPAM filtering on Webmail or POP Mail ...
