NetLogo is an agent-based modeling tool similar in many ways to Swarm
(different in many others, of course). Hopefully the following
information will be of interest to members of this list.

The NetLogo team has an open full time position for a software
developer, to work at Northwestern University in Illinois (Evanston
campus). For information on how to apply, visit:

Position Requirements

   The responsibilities of this position in the School of Education and
   Social Policy include: collaborating with the NetLogo development
   team in designing the structure of NetLogo and HubNet; writing code
   independently, but under the direction of IT Software Engineer 5;
   supporting the development of new features for NetLogo to support the
   needs of a research project to use NetLogo to model the growth of
   cities, in collaboration with graduate students and faculty in the NU
   Computer Science department and at partner universities; updating and
   documenting existing curricular activities between HubNet and
   NetLogo; creating new such activities in NetLogo; supporting
   development of network of new devices to interact with HubNet;
   interacting with commercial and academic partners to help determine
   design and functional requirements for HubNet; performing data
   collection, organization and summarization for the projects;
   maintaining project database; assisting with coordination of team
   activities; and performing other related duties as assigned.

   The preferred qualifications include: a Bachelor's degree in computer
   science or a closely related field or near completion of a Bachelor's
   degree together with relevant academic and industry experience, or
   the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
   from which comparable skills can be acquired; experience and comfort
   with working effectively as part of a small to medium sized software
   development team, including close collaboration and team coding;
   experience with Java programming, GUI design, and Lisp or Lisp-like
   languages; exposure to concepts of software architecture and team
   software engineering processes; experience working on research
   projects in an academic environment; understanding of secondary
   school math and science content.
