Postdoctoral Research Assistant (ref. 10538)

Department of Computer Science
University of Bristol

You will be a postdoctoral researcher for the "Social Insects, Simulated Evolution and Biologically Inspired Algorithms" project at the University of Bristol. This joint project between the Department of Computer Science and the School of Biological Sciences is researching the application of computer modelling techniques to better understand collective behaviour and its evolution in social insects, and conversely the application of decision making algorithms derived from social insects to problems in computer science. This exciting project lies at the interface between the life sciences and the physical sciences. You will have an interdisciplinary outlook and experience, either with a PhD or equivalent in behavioural ecology and with knowledge of computer and/or mathematical modelling techniques, or a PhD in computer science/maths and an interest in applications to biology. More details on the project can be found at http://www.cs.bris.ac.uk/home/marshall/sisebia/

The appointment will be for 16 months in the first instance with a possible extension of 3 months.
