AFAIK we are backwards-compatible to 9.6, but in practice also with any
more recent version (so >= 9.6). I'm using Postgres 13 on this system,
for example. So there is no need to change anything in the code. If some
documentation suggests to use 9.6, it should be updated to say >= 9.6.
And I think recommended is _at least_ PG 11.
