I don't think so. In fact if this switch wasn't on, the commands in node
names were still taken into account, except that some expansions were
not performed, like @value. However, there is no reason not to take into
account commands in node names as best as possible, so having that
the default is, in my opinion best. Also it was not the default only for
performance reasons, which are not an issue, currently (I haven't checked
how slower makeinfo in perl is compared with makeinfo in C, but it is
way slower, I'd say at least 100 times...).
