Ehm, why not just doing a CTRL Z then again ? Or hitting the undo button ;-)
But it's not too hard to set the clips back selected after undo.

Sure

Indeed! This isn't the current behavior, but this might be better then the 
current one (where selecting an allready selected clip doesn't do anything)
