Hi all,

yes, arbitrary channel counts for tracks are important.

Yeah, 5.1 is quite commonly found nowadays. I don't use it personally, though.

i suppose, although i can't think of too many situationsin which we would want exclusively one or the other.

I think it can be handy. For example when recording some tracks. I will want to connect a hardware input to the track, but the output of the track(s) will be usually routed within Traverso to the sheet bus and this one to the project bus. In this usual case, I don't need/want to see all independent track outs in jack.

probably not necessary. (?)

A possibility: Currently, we can have mono and stereo audio clips in the same track. I guess that in the future, the idea is that there may be clips with any number of channels in the same track. So the number of channels could be considered as a property of the clip, the track being neutral to this except at the time of recording. The recording could remain only mono/stereo IMO:
Being not such a frequent task (that is 5.1), if the user wants to create a n-channel clip, the possible "mixdown to track" (or "bounce") function, could be smart enough to let him choose whether he wants a mono mixdown, a stereo mixdown, or an n-channel mixdown. No need to create n-input ports for a track.
The ability of setting mono or stereo recording for a track at any time, wouldn't hurt.

also, vertical zoom doesn't appear to work currently.

It does for me:
[Z]+<V>+movemouse ==> zooms vertically all tracks
[Z]+<0-9> ==> sets the heigh of a single track
[Z]+<up/dn arrow> ==> changes the heigh of a single track
[Z]+<E> ==> expands/collapses vertically all tracks

More new zoom functions are available, although they seem not being documented in the context menus.

Greetings
JC
