The idea is to use standout or underline mode to highlight inserted or
deleted parts. I think that might be useful indeed, so I don't think
I'll abandon it without good reason.
On my system, I have an alias to wdiff that does provide ANSI escape
sequences for colored output as arguments to wdiff. But I'm not sure
that's as portable. But any kind of visual indication should be a benefit.
