FYI,
The Xenomai project has merged with the RTAI project
(http://www.aero.polimi.it/~rtai/) to produce an industrial-grade
real-time Free Software platform for GNU/Linux. Xenomai's emulation
technology will aim at providing a comfortable migration path from
proprietary RTOS to RTAI.
As a consequence of this:
o Xenomai 1.1.1 is the final standalone release of the Xenomai
project. The main contributors are still on-line, and willing to enter
a maintenance mode for this code provided the bugs are brought to
their attention on this list, along with a simple test code allowing
to reproduce them.
o Most of the Xenomai code base (but the POSIX layer) has already
joined the RTAI development branch (codenamed "magma"), and is now
evolving toward user-space support on top of RTAI's LXRT technology.
The ultimate goal is to have the real-time tasks created by the
various RTOS emulators running under memory-protection, while keeping
a high degree of determinism and very short latencies.
o The Xenomai POSIX layer as it used to be has been discontinued since
it became meaningless in a RTAI environment. However, as said before,
the user-space support will be available with RTAI/Xenomai, but using
a different technology.
o The simulation tool (i.e. MVM layer) has been kept, and is already
available in the RTAI code base.
This list will remain open for Xenomai-related discussions (if any),
whatever the concerned Xenomai code base is (i.e. the old
one/standalone or the new one available from RTAI).
Philippe.
