Nachshon Draiman, Take this Snow Shovel & Shove It -- New First-ever Electric Heated Outdoor Entrance & Walkway Mats and Stair Treads Melts Ice & Snow Instantly

Paterson, N.J. (PRWEB) November 28, 2007 -- Imagine never having to remove ice and snow from your door stoop, stairs or walkways while reducing the chances of slip and fall injuries. A new outdoor electric heated matting product popular with commercial users such as ski resorts and office complexes is now available to consumers for home use.
Heat Trak, LLC of Paterson, N.J. (heattrak.com) is marketing a new residential version of its revolutionary HeatTrak® matting products for consumers. The portable HeatTrak® heated entrance mat and heated stair mat system continuously melt ice and snow at a rate of two inches per hour, keeping surfaces constantly clear and safe up to five degrees below zero.
HeatTrak® products are made of an electrically operated heating element sandwiched between two protective surfaces of non-slip rubber. The entrance mat surface material is a charcoal color and made with a durable Olefin Fiber. Both products are simple to use and lay on existing surfaces and plug directly into any standard 120V outlet.
Bed, Bath & Beyond, Front Gate and Hammacher Schlemmer are among retailers carrying the HeatTrak® home products. The HeatTrak® heated entrance mat is 24" x 36", which includes a watertight power supply cord, has a suggested retail price of $129.95. Each 11" x 30" heated stair mat is sold individually for a suggested retail price of $49.95. The stair mat comes with one watertight connector cable to enable the stair mat to connect to other heated stair mats (up to a total of 10) A separate 6' long power supply cord must be purchased with every group of stair mats. The power supply cord is watertight, has a built in ground fault circuit interrupter and retails for $29.95. Both products carry a full one-year money-back guarantee, are made of durable material, and can be left out the entire winter season.
Consumers also can purchase HeatTrak® home and commercial products at the company's Web site www.heattrak.com or by calling toll free: 866.766.9628. HeatTrak® commercial products include variety sizes of heated matting products from a 24" x 36" entrance mat to a large 3' x 25' walkway mat.
Hillel Glazer, president of Heat Trak, LLC, and inventor of HeatTrak® products, said safety and reducing the risks of slip and fall injuries outside the home during the winter is the main benefit of HeatTrak® heated matting products.
"Sure consumers will love the no-shoveling convenience of our heated mats and stair treads in keeping areas free of ice and snow, but it is our slip prevention that makes HeatTrak® a must-have for safety-conscious homeowners."
Glazer cites statistics from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that show a very high rate of injury from falls among women and the elderly. Older adults are hospitalized for fall-related injuries five times more often than they are for injuries from other causes. More than one third of adults 65 and older fall each year. Of all the risks, falls are the leading cause of unintentional death among people 65 and older, approaching 11,000 deaths a year. Falls are the third leading cause of death for all ages, totaling 18,822 last year. There were 1.8 million emergency room visits and more than 420,000 hospital admissions of adults 65 years old and older as a result of falls according to the CDC. A 2000 statistic revealed that the costs of both fatal and nonfatal falls were higher for women than for men and medical costs for women, who made up 58% of older adults in 2000, were two to three times higher than for men. By 2020, the annual direct and indirect cost of fall injuries is expected to reach $43.8 billion.
"Not all injuries from falls are related to snow and ice at home, but a fair amount are and can be prevented and the risks reduced with our products," said Glazer. "We are committed to helping homeowners provide their families with a safer environment around their homes during winter months."
HeatTrak® mats also offer homeowners a better, environmentally friendlier alternative to calcium chloride in melting snow and ice. Salted entranceway lead to messy floors indoors and discolors surfaces as foot traffic tracks inside the calcium chloride. In addition, HeatTrak® mats help preserve all walkway surfaces, especially expensive pavers. Calcium chloride is known for eating away all types of material (asphalt, cement, brick and stones) over time and can damage the environment and surrounding vegetation.
Paterson, N.J.-based Heat Trak, LLC, makers of HeatTrak® products was founded in 2004. More than 7,500 of its commercial patent-pending line of heated matting products are being used in virtually every cold-weather state by a wide range of more than 900 customers, from ski resorts, hotels, restaurants, banks and grocery stores to colleges and universities, hospitals and nursing homes, municipalities, office buildings and manufacturing/warehouse facilities.
