I had no trouble making a backup.  #803 was only a problem for those 
with a considerable amount of posts -- I'm reasonably certain Evan made 
manual backups for a number of people who ran into this issue, so I 
don't think #803 was the reason you did not move, you probably could 
have moved if you really wanted to :)

If you still want to set up a StatusNet or GNU Social instance I suggest 
you either wait until the backups are on archive.org, or e-mail Evan 
asking for a copy.
