Yes, exactly.  (Sorry that I didn't state this more clearly earlier.)

I've been using the "*readline-colored-completion-prefix" syntax
without problems on multiple systems for a few years now.  I also
couldn't find any evidence of `dircolors` versions that don't support
this syntax.
