Hi Al,

2011/6/28 Albert Chu <address@hidden>
Oh ...
(...)
I'm not personally familiar with the use of pkg-config.  With what I see
online, shouldn't autoconf/configure be more than suitable?  I suppose
if it doesn't break the normal autoconf/automake, then I'd be fine
adding a patch.  Is it used alongside other build systems??

pkg-config is complementary to autoconf/configure, in that it simplifies the detection and tests of build deps:
http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/pkg-config

there are simple macros:
http://www.flameeyes.eu/autotools-mythbuster/pkgconfig/pkg_check_modules.html

and also the capability to create more advanced .m4 macros, as we did for NUT:
http://anonscm.debian.org/viewvc/nut/trunk/m4/nut_check_libpowerman.m4?revision=2821&view=markup

Jim Garlick (who's also a friend) can argue on this, since IIRC I sent the pkg-config patch for PowerMan, used in the above m4...

And the same patch is attached for FreeIPMI ;-)
Please consider merging it.

BTW, you may also be interested in removing autogen.sh for autoreconf:

cheers,
Arno
