They sound pretty much ok to me.

I don't think any of us have gotten around to writing something really
good yet.  If you take a look at the 'bmc-watchdog' tool though, I think
you can get a good feel of API calls that need to be called.

There have been a lot of fixes in the mainline CVS versino of FreeIPMI.
 Could you perhaps try that one out really quick?
