Can you try running ipmi-locate? Lets see if ipmi-locate can even find
a IPMI card on your system.

Usually you don't need to, but installing/running the Linux IPMI kernel
driver is worth trying. If you're on Linux w/ most distros
"/etc/init.d/ipmi start" should start it up.
