Hi Stephen,
Could you please try the "discretereading" workaround (i.e. -W
discretereading). There's a description of the issue in the manpage
about the issue and it's only been seen on HP systems. I believe HP has
acknowledged the issue, but due to legacy reasons I don't believe they
want to change it.
If that doesn't work, please send the --debug output.
