I may be mistaken. Looking through the maxima archives, there's a
thread about GPLv3 from June 1, 2008. It seems maxima is gplv2 or
later. The COPYING file does say any later version, and as far as we
can tell Bill Schelter never specified a GPL version for maxima.
I am not a lawyer. And the fact that we can't tell doesn't mean Bill
Schelter never specified a version. It just means we can't easily find
anything saying one way or another.
