[Gcl-devel] configure: EMACS_DEFAULT_EL

Hello *,

I've checked out gcl Version_2_6_8pre from cvs on 21.12.2011, and compiled 
it on 32-bit gentoo linux (gcl is no longer in gentoo officially, due to 
the absence of a release). The current configure, in order to find 
EMACS_DEFAULT_EL, does

$EMACS -q -batch --no-site-file -l conftest.el 2>&1

But there is no conftest.el anywhere; as a result, default.el is installed 
into / - not the place one would wish. What's conftest.el and where should 
it be?
