this thread is getting off track and this data should be on the irda
mailling list...but here goes anyways:
after hooking wvdial into /dev/ircomm2, i got some activity on ircomm2,
but on the other channels, i only get something like:
irdadump
17:44:45.310025 xid:cmd f4cd57e9 > ffffffff S=6 s=0 (14)
17:45:24.310025 xid:cmd 5c0208b7 > ffffffff S=6 s=0 (14)
17:45:42.310024 xid:cmd fa157fe0 > ffffffff S=6 s=0 (14)
17:46:18.310029 xid:cmd a01be407 > ffffffff S=6 s=0 (14)
whenever i do irattach /dev/ircomm1 -s 1 or /dev/ttyS1 -s 1 (h*ll if i
know what i'm doing...no man file or explicit --help option...still
learning.
ok. very little info on smc-ircc module, but here's somemore:
/etc/modules:
ircomm-tty
smc-ircc
/etc/modules.conf:
pre-install smc-ircc /bin/setserial /dev/ttyS1 irq 0 port 0 uart none
##(this line should help loading the module! also note, modeprobe
ircomm-tty prior to loading smc-ircc!)
alias irda0 smc-ircc
options smc-ircc ircc_dma=3 ircc_irq=7 ircc_cfg=0x2e ircc_sir=0x2e8
#ircc_fir=0x2f8
##(notice i commented the ircc_fir option out as it caused a problem
when loading the module. after adding the above line, it now details
some sir/fir mode stuff)
# IrDA over a normal serial port, or a serial port compatible IrDA port
alias tty-ldisc-11 irtty
# IrCOMM (for printing, PPP, Minicom etc)
alias char-major-161 ircomm-tty
alias irda0 smc-ircc
the key note to be able to successfully load the smc-ircc module, you
need to first load the ircom-tty module. it successfully unloads w/o
complaining for me tho. maybe specifying th ircc_irq, etc, may resolve
this for you. (looks like i may need to add some data to the dell 8100
laptop howtos as the irda is lacking on them)
i'm showing nothing in my:
cat /proc/net/irda/discovery
IrLMP: Discovery log:
when trying to use wvdial (pppd) with some of the /dev/ircomm0/1/2 or
/dev/ttyS1, i believe i got something being tx thru that port
recursively, but i forget the details on what i did.
As you can see in my /var/log/messages, i get a misterious:
irattach: tcsetattr: Invalid argument
