It's for both sending and receiving. No other features are needed.

Really? I was under the impression that E220 only supported text-mode,
and that Gnokii does not support text mode.
... but googling some more, I see that the E220 actually should
support both. I guess I'll just have to mess around with it a bit
more.
Great news, E220 are quite easy to come by!
