Hi all,
I isolated the problems that kept GNUmed from running from running on OSX and
it now run beautifully.
I have only tested the client part so far but still it looks rather nice. A
more descriptive coverage will be posted at blog.gnumed.de shortly.
It's now possible to run a GNUmed client on GNU/Linux (Debian, Ubuntu, SUSE -
tested) MS Windows , MacOSX.
You have the choice between running it in a virtual machine , off an USB-drive
and off a CD
You can connect to any combination of databases on GNU/Linux, MS Windows,
MacOSX, locally or via the internet (salaam.homeunix.com)
You can switch interface languages at startup without having to change the
codebase at all. You can even mix languages as you like.
But what I like best is the fact that all these combinations are run off one
single codebase. Thanks to the python, wxpython, postgres, guys and many
more.
All of these interfaces have one thing in common. They are not webbased. But
Syan has shown already that this is just a matter of coding a webinterface.
As demand for a webbased interface arises we carefully evaluate this option.
So what challenges are out there for interested parties.
- build a webinterface if you need one
- build a client for mobile devices such as pocket pc (windows mobile) or
zaurus (GPE --> openembedded) , openmoko phones ( openembedded) , Trolltech
Greenphones (Qtopia)
BTW there now is a backup script in CVS that creates backups of your GNUmed
database an talks to GNotary for timestamping.
