Yes. So it can be distinguished from multiple underlinings.

When part of the string or text. So one can text it on the spot.

Save previous, as is the standard in groff. If it behaves like color,
it would not introduce a new logic.

Think so.
Underlining, underlining twice and strike through seems to be very
similar, especially if the baseline underline-line distance can be
configured.
