I am currently trying to install the GD.pm Perl module on Solaris 2.6.
I have downloaded and installed the libpng and zlib libraries and built
libgd (albeit as a static library)
The installation instructions for GD.pm state that the libgd distribution
must be patched using 'patch_gd.pl' which uses GNU patch to cause the make
process to build dynamically linkable libraries. I have downloaded and built
version 2.5. and 2.5.4 of GNU patch but the usage output for the resulting
utility does not match the commands which the patch_gd.pl script is
attempting to execute. The notes do state that Solaris does not have a
suitable version of patch and that I must install GNU patch myself. This is
what I thought I had done but the make of the libgd library and subsequent
'make test' give warnings/errors.
I'm sure that a number of people have encountered this same problem so if
you could direct me to a suitable FAQ or forward this to someone who may
have the answer it would be much appreciated.
