Because Linphone uses a command line that does not match the sip: uri as sent from a browser. Also because I wanted for tel: and callto: uris to work as well as sip:.

Anyway I agree 3.6.1 is quite old release but that is the one that is delivered in standard with Linux Mint Tara (19)
