   ./Setup.sh and ./configure --prefix=/usr/local/mitscheme go just fine
   but make blows up. The following is everything that shows up :

This is happening because the scheme executable you are using doesn't
recognize "--fasl" (it expects "-fasl").  The compilation has
succeeded; all that needs to be done is to build the bands.

I'm not sure why this is happening.  The "build-bands.sh" script
deliberately uses the executable that you compiled from source, which
should definitely recognize "--fasl".
