Exactly the same problem using Gentoo. I am trying to use

it in a chroot, but this shoudln't effect it.

I can't even su to users in /etc/passwd after editing my

nsswitch.conf to use mysql. The mysql log is showing

nsswitch executing a few queries.

I *can* id a user.

simba nss-mysql # id pookey

uid=1000(pookey) gid=100(users) groups=100(users),10(wheel)

simba nss-mysql # su pookey

  < hangs >

I have tried recompiling nss-mysql.

I have tried both 0.4, and 0.43, both have same effect.

Any ideas?

Did you try to compile nss-mysql in debug mode and see what

you got in the auth log ?

Have you recompiled zlib too ?

Guillaume.
