Ok, this shows that syslog works as expected. It looks like

you are not running the version compiled in debug mode.

I searched the logs again, and i`ve found a message once after I

installed nss-mysql. The mesage was:

Sep 8 13:44:54 p15136092 nss-mysql[323]: Cannot open

/etc/nss-mysql/nss-mysql-root.conf configuration file: Permission

denied. (euid=134596396, uid=134595276)

Sep 8 13:44:54 p15136092 nss-mysql[323]: _nss_mysql_getspnam_r

conf file parsing failed

But I got this message only once, no matter how often I started su. The

nss-mysql-root.conf file is only readable by root, but I think it must be

so.

Is there any chance to find out whether nss-mysql was compiled in

debug mode? I compiled it with --enable-debug, but maybe I made

some stupid mistake and forgot something :-[
