Details:

n the Preferences | Editor tab there isn't enough space for some translated
text (English usually allows very compact phrases compared to e.g., Dutch).
Perhaps some text could be multi-line?

In addition I saw that in the Preferences | Editor Styles tab there is no
Dutch translation for Bash, and I didn't encounter the related strings in the
nl_NL.ts language file. 
In e.g. German there is a Bash translation, but I didn't find the
corresponding terms in the de_DE.ts file either. Where are those text
strings?


On another note:
Do I assume correctly that for the first GUI startup-message (about the
configuration file being written etc) Octave is falling back to the system
language? (can't check on my boxes as they are en_US) 
Otherwise there's no point in a translation of this text.
