Hello,
This patch fixes two small problems:
1. compilation error with gcc-4.1 (__attribute__)
2. Bug fix: utf8_encode() returns an address but not a byte count.
By the way, is editing in C-mode broken at the moment? The behaviour when
typing a '{' or ';' is strange.
