My thoughts on this:
* How can someone who owns xyz.com easily point @address@hidden to
status.xyz.com/user?
* What if address@hidden is your email address? Do you want your email
address being so publicly broadcast like this?
* @address@hidden feels awkward, but if I'm talking someone I know well,
maybe I can alias @user locally to them? (I kind of do this with GNU
social, making @gnu.org aliases for all the key developers, so I don't
need to remember their domain names.)
* Maybe nobody needs to worry too much about @address@hidden because actual
'friends' in the social sites will just be mappings to these underlying
details -- only in microblogging type situations is there a need to
really type in a users identity -- on Facebook and others, you just pick
it from your list of friends... this also handles the usernames vs names
thing well too.
