If you look closely at the flags being passed, you will see "-fgnu- 
runtime", you are headed for disaster, you are telling the compiler to  
generate code for the GNU objc runtime but yet you want to use the  
Apple objc runtime.
The Makefiles are not setup to compile against the Apple objc  
runtime.  I avoided that hairy mess by using Xcode.
