No that is not ok. Make sure you are running compiled xwem. Than
start xterm and run xterm from xterm. Also take advantage of
profiler:
(setq xwem-misc-functions-to-profile
'(xwem-make-client xwem-cl-presetup xwem-client-first-manage))
M-x xwem-misc-start-profiling RET
execute applications, do some work etc .. then
M-x xwem-misc-profiling-results RET
And report all that things to us.

Do M-x set-variable RET debug-on-error RET t RET
and wait for this error. You will get Backtrace. Post it here
