Mandrake gives me the choice between autoconf 2.13 and version 2.5x.  I have 
tried forcing it to 2.5x  Automake is 1.4.  When I run autogen.sh I get the 
following:

configure.in: 4516: required file `./_AM_File,.in' not found
configure.in: 4516: required file `./$2,.in' not found
configure.in: 4516: required file `./$3)].in' not found
src/Makefile.am:48: invalid unused variable name: `libadonthell_LDADD'

but this doesn't prevent "configure" from completing normally.

I will upgrade automake and see what happens.
