the dynamic linker is unable to find the library.
To solve this under GNU/Linux, one option is to check
your /etc/ld.so.conf file, and add

/usr/local/lib

to the list there.
Another option is to tweak the LD_LIBRARY_PATH
environment variable, but I'd suggest the first.
