Netlist conversion question

Is there a simple way to read in an EDIF schematic containing 2-3 levels 
of hierarchy and write it out as Cadence CDL?

When I import the EDIF, all that shows up is the first primitive element 
(nfet).  Shouldn't the entire hierarchy be brought in?
