That is the original, abandoned repository. GAP continued development by 
importing it into its own repository, with permission of the original 
author (for whatever reason he choose not to give us access to the 
original repository). The original version was Mac only.

The CVS version is known to compile on Mac 10.4 and GNUstep. I will 
check Sebastian's changes at least for compilation later
