[Glug-nith-discuss] vi in ubuntu

Is it something like the vi editor doesn't work fine in ubuntu...
I am using ubuntu and if I use the vi editor from the command line it
doen't work fine enough...

It behaves in a strange way...like <Backspace> does clear the previous
letter but moves the cursor on it.
<delete> first capitalizes the previous letter and then deletes it if
hit second time...

It is quite difficult to work on it...
Is there something I can do???
