http://code.google.com/p/lilypond/issues/detail?id=3560the long term aim is not placating the completion engravers, but to relieve them from work not suited for them and enable entering long notes or impossible lengths as a8*9 even within \scaledDurations.
the idea of \scaleDurations setting some properties is promising, but it must be done so that they nest.
