Success on Ubuntu-18.04 64-bit:

Some Remarks/Observations:

- As said already, I had lib32ncurses5 and lib32z1 installed.
  Afaict, libc6-dev-i386 is _not_ installed

- Some excerpts of /target/linux-64/log/python.log

*** WARNING: renaming "nis" since importing it failed:
