different lout.li

Hi:

I have two questions:

1- Is there a way to give a different name to lout.li? 
I need to process different documents in a batch way, and some of them have 
the posibility to run at the same time, I need to know total number of pages, 
so I need different "lout.li".


2- I need a text written on the left margin of the document on each page and 
I haven't been able to do it. I wanted to write a single, vertical line 
(lanscape). Can I do it with heading?
