LYNX-DEV RP styles instructions

Ok, I tried a variant of rp's lss file, and ran
        lynx -cfg lynx.cfg -lss=rp.lss 
I got no colors, except for half the status line being black on red.
The rest of the screen was white on black.  The current link wasn't highlighted
in any way.

I know there's probably something simple I'm leaving out.
