lynx-dev cgi question

Is there anyone that would answer a *very simple* cgi question?

I tried posting on comp.infosystems.www.authoring.cgi but my post seems
to not be going out.  (it's one of those "moderated but not by a real person"
groups and I followed the rules..)

I don't want to clutter this list, so I'll mail someone the question if
they volunteer.

It actually involves the first sample in the Programming Perl book... but
I think I'm trying to do something "weird" with it.
