it was reported a couple of months ago that DJGPP/gcc 2.8.1
should be "stubedited" to even lager stack size
than we do for DJGPP/gcc 2.7.x in order to compile Lynx.
(And I compile lynx without optimization at all
which made compilation process much faster under low memory/disk space
with no visible difference for run-time speed.)
