Hmm.  Well, monotone could store a hash of the rc scripts currently
being used.  That wouldn't necessarily be accurate, though, because
those scripts might well consult other files.  It would also not work
if you often used the same database with different sets of rc scripts.

How about caching the results assuming that all certs were trusted?
Would that help the case where some aren't?
