Reply to comment #3 and comment #6: Browsing the history exactly works for me
as you describe. I can edit a recent command, use arrow keys to browse up and
down and get the edited command when I come to this entry in the history
again.
The general question is if "Matlab compatibility" really should include a user
interface that completely behaves like Matlab.
