Can you try with:
  a) a fresh database, and
  b) a build done directly from the sks-1.0.7 tarball?

I want to eliminate the possibility that this bug comes from changes
introduced in the debian packaging process. I am running 1.0.7 on my
system with no problems, and I didn't make any changes recently that hit
the segfaultable part of the code (the interface to Berkeley DB). It's
possible that an old bug is being exercised, but it could also be some
weird build bug.

Also, I would recommend not using the basedir option for now. I haven't
looked at it lately, but there have been reports of bugginess there. That
being said, it's hard to see how that would cause a segfault.
