Nevermind - it was a problem in ADNS.  Apparently if the first 
nameserver fails, it doesn't try the next one.  Mandrake's default 
config lists 127.0.0.1 as the first nameserver, for whatever reason, so 
it always failed.  Straw works fine once I removed that DNS entry.

Feature suggestion - add a notification area icon so Straw can run 
hidden and notify you when new stories are retrieved in the feeds or 
categories you specify.
